Board of Directors Meeting - MINUTES
1. Attending were
Joellyn Nevins, Tom Nevins, Eino Kauppi, John D'Angelillo, Bruce Colburn, Raynold Jackson, Sherisa Sterling,
Sussie Holzberlein, Duane Cromwell, Emily Norton, and
Jayne Perkins.
2. Corrections to minutes - none
3. Treasurer’s report – Eino - $2,150.81
4. Membership report – 55 active members, 22 members less
than 1 year
overdue, 48 more
than 1 year and less than 3 years overdue and 16 more than 3 years overdue
or no renewal
date known.
5. Publicity
For the newsletter: the target completion date is
the deadline for submissions is:

Sy Montgomery program, the PR is done
6. Winter programs
Sussie’s hike – 0 attended
Sherisa’s hike will occur on
Saturday
7. Friends of NRRT
NRRT clean up –
Ayer kiosk – on the list of things for the regional carpenter to
make.
Washout north of
Other - Groton Cultural Council gave $1000 for the 2nd
mural. The goal is to complete it
before
the school year is over.
8. Trails
SCA (Americore) will mark the
dead swamp trail, but we should check shortly before
May 5th to insure that
they flagging is still up.
Sussie to re-send Ed the Topo of the Family friendly trail at WBSP
We need to have one trail
maintenance day in the spring after the ground is solid
and one in the summer

Montgomery program – March 14,
Cookies and
coffee/hot chocolate will be provided for a donation
Coffee pots at the venue can be
used for hot drinks
Setup for the presentation should

Emily will check with Sy regarding her projection/screen needs

Data was collected so it could be
presented to DCR and a plan to be made later

13. FOWB-Townsend
Seniors connection – John D – the first hike occurred on
6 people attended and they walked
from the Sr. center to downtown and back.
Ray has begun flagging a trail
(Marked RJST – Ray Jackson Sr. Trail) in the woods in
Townsend that
will be complete when the snow melts and the ground is solid.
14. Annual Meeting
Will be held on Thursday 6/10. Tom French will be the speaker
Cost to rent the church is $75; the

Tom and John have offered to be the
nominating committee:
Clare, Ray and Emily left the board
last year but are eligible to be on it again now

Joellyn and Tom have 1 more year to go
Deborah and Duane are up for re-election
Eino and Don must leave the board

committee – on hold until spring
17. Earth Day 4/24
FOWB table in Townsend – Emily and Jayne

Smokey will be attending
Water departments in various towns may
have fliers we can hand out related to Water
conservation.

19. DCR/Forest News – Ed
- Seasonal staff :
same # as last year but some reduced weeks of work
- WBSP office has been rehabilitated
- The
- Land purchases pending: Fort Hill Rd 2
lots near the Stoddard field
East Rindge Rd 2 lots – one on each side of the road
These are isolated open space
- The
- PHSP – the sand is being replaced with
new (more appropriate) sand and the
old sand is going to be
used to supply a turtle nesting site.
- The Yurt is going to be built by bid,
but it should happen soon because the DEP
regulations
have been met now.
18. Other business
A. The web site has received a
solicitation and also the Environmental Action 2010
which
Tom forwarded to us all
B. The Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway Coalition will have their Annual
meeting
On March 28th
and the speaker will be Christine
Schadler, Coyote expert
C. http://www.catlinarcticsurvey.com/ is an interesting
site recommended by Bruce.
